Overview

In this section you'll find information about Radio Communication and the Phonetic Alphabet.

Radio Communication

The single, most important thought in pilot-controller communications is understanding. Radio communication is part of the flight training for FAA pilot certificates and it is also examined during the practical phase of your flight check.

The FAA does not require an additional license for radio communication as other countries do.
However some foreign countries do issue a restricted radio license to persons holding a FAA pilot certificate.
You'll get more detailed information from your local aviation administration office or from the agency regulating radio communications in your country where you reside.

Read also the article Talking on the Radio.

Phonetic Alphabet

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) phonetic alphabet is used by Air Traffic Control (ATC) and pilots through out the world for radio communications.
